Urushi Series SHIBO-URUSHI “DIVIDO ~Metallic Haze” Bracelet Model [VM14-M01KA2-SSB]
Some dials tell you what to see. The MINASE Urushi Series shibo-urushi dial “DIVIDO ~Metallic Haze” deliberately refuses, and leaves the reading entirely to the viewer.
It is made by sprinkling tin over shibo-urushi, the lacquer technique MINASE uses when it wants texture rather than a picture. Urushi is thickened with egg white until it sets in an irregular relief, colored, then ground back flat so the surface is level while the landscape underneath is not. Nothing is drawn and nothing is repeated; MINASE simply notes that the pattern differs from piece to piece because each one is hand-made.
The DIVIDO carries it in a stainless steel case, 40.6 mm square and 11 mm thick including the sapphire, weighing around 134 g on the MORE bracelet. The name is short for MINASE Original Rebuilding Equation, and it means what it says: case and bracelet disassemble to their component parts, so surfaces can be re-polished by hand and rebuilt rather than replaced. Every one of those surfaces is finished by Sallaz polishing, a hand discipline of Swiss origin that MINASE has made its own. Self-winding KT7002 on a Swiss ETA 2892-A2 / Sellita SW300 base, with a date, and 5 atm.
Grey weather on the wrist, in the best possible sense.
Perfect for: abstract textured dials, buyers who like ambiguity, fully serviceable hand-finished steel.
