Our Story
A Different Kind of Watch Boutique
Tempus Takumi was founded on a conviction: the most interesting watchmakers in the world are not always the most visible ones. The great houses dominate the conversation, but a quieter tradition of independent craft — in Shinjō, in Glashütte, in Hamburg — produces work of equal or greater distinction.
We exist to bring those makers to New York City. Our 57th Street private showroom is a place where clients can encounter watches they will not find in any department store or mall boutique — pieces made in small numbers, by hands that understand what they are doing, for people who appreciate the difference.
Every brand in our collection has been chosen deliberately. We do not carry lines out of convenience or availability. We carry them because we believe in them.

Every brand on our floor has earned its place. We evaluate each maker on the integrity of its movement, the quality of its finishing, and the honesty of its pricing. If something does not clear that bar, it is not here.

Independent
We are not affiliated with any watch conglomerate. That independence is the point. It allows us to champion smaller manufactures — the workshops where the founder still walks the floor — without commercial compromise.

Exceptional
The standard we hold our collection to is simple: would a knowledgeable collector consider this exceptional value for the price? If the answer is yes, it belongs here. If not, it does not matter how well-known the name is.

Shinjō, Japan
MINASE
Founded in 2005 in the mountains of Yamagata Prefecture, MINASE is one of Japan’s most technically ambitious independent watch workshops. A patented Case-in-Case architecture isolates the movement from external shock; Sallaz hand-polishing produces mirror surfaces of near-perfect flatness. Each dial is a distinct object.

MeisterSinger
MeisterSinger makes a case that one hand is enough. The single-hand display, drawn from pre-industrial timekeeping, strips the watch to its essentials and invites a different relationship with time — approximate, unhurried, deliberate. Beautifully finished in Hamburg since 2001.

Mühle-Glashütte
Established in 1869 in the Saxon watchmaking capital of Glashütte, Mühle has produced professional-grade instruments for the German Navy and maritime use for generations. Today those same exacting standards apply to a civilian collection that values legibility, durability, and honest craft above all.

Pequignet
One of the few remaining independent French manufactures, Pequignet produces its own movements in Morteau, in the Franche-Comté — the French watchmaking heartland. The Royale collection, with its in-house Calibre Royal, represents exceptional manufacture watchmaking at a fraction of what comparable Swiss names command.

IKEPOD
Founded in 1994 around the designs of Marc Newson, IKEPOD put industrial design at the center of watchmaking a decade before it became fashionable. The pebble-soft case and integrated strap remain some of the most recognizable silhouettes in modern horology — museum pieces you can actually wear.

G-SHOCK
In 1981 Casio engineer Kikuo Ibe broke a watch his father had given him, and set out to build one that would survive the fall. Every G-SHOCK since hangs its module inside the case rather than bolting it down — from the resin square to titanium MR-G, hand-assembled in Yamagata.

FAVRE LEUBA
Founded in 1737, Favre Leuba is the second-oldest Swiss watch brand — the house behind the first mechanical altimeter wristwatch and dive instruments that went to the deepest oceans. Reborn today with in-house design and Swiss manufacture calibers, from the Chief collection to the Deep Raider divers.

HP Hercules
In 1953 Hermann Buhl made the first ascent of Nanga Parbat with a Hercules on his wrist. Revived in Saint-Prex, the house of Henzi & Pfaff builds chronometer-certified mountaineering watches — an exclusive micro-rotor, a five-day hand-wound, and rare tantalum cases — each engraved with the mountain’s height lines.

Havid Nagan
Founded in 2022 by Aren Bazerkanian, Havid Nagan is an independent studio that designs from function first and refuses to dilute an idea for popularity. Its cushion-cased HN02 pairs hand-cut guilloché under grand feu flinqué enamel with a COSC-certified calibre — forty-three pieces in total.
