Havid Nagan is an independent watchmaking studio founded in 2022 by Aren Bazerkanian and based in Los Angeles. Design decisions are driven by function first — how a watch feels, reads and wears — rather than by trend or consensus. Each reference begins with an idea that stands on its own logic, and is developed without dilution for popularity.
The watches are realised with Swiss partners chosen for technical precision. Cases, dials, movements and finishing are produced and assembled to strict standards rather than convenient ones, and production is deliberately small — a handful of references, each built to be worn.
The studio does not lean on nostalgia or overt homage. The work is informed by tradition where tradition matters — proportion, legibility, balance — and executed for the way watches are worn today. It is exactly the kind of maker Tempus Takumi exists to bring to New York.

The Case
An entirely redesigned case
The cushion case synonymous with Havid Nagan was revisited and entirely re-architected for the HN02. Its presence and size on the wrist were of paramount importance: this is the more elegant expression of the HNxx series, reduced significantly in size without surrendering any of its geometry.
The hooded lugs were replaced by a traditional lug system, lengthened and drawn out to accentuate the case. The overall architecture of the cushion is retained as an ideal — the proportions around it are what changed.
Lugs, made artisanally elegant
Hooded lugs remain an ongoing design parameter for the HNxx architecture, but here a certain elegance was pursued through the traditional lug system. The practical benefit is that collectors can swap straps easily — the -02 was never conceived as a sports watch. Its raison d’être is to show the flexibility of the series architecture.
The Dial
Flinqué enamel, fired in grand feu
The craft traces to 18th-century Geneva, where artisans combined enamelling with the art of guillochage. The technique produced the Fabergé eggs and the decorative snuff boxes of the period, and by the early 19th century it had reached watch dials.

Guilloché, by hand
A dial maker cuts the guilloché pattern into each HN02 dial by hand. Nothing about the engine-turning is automated, and no two dials come off the rose engine identically.

Galvanised to hue
The dial is galvanised through electrical baths into the Azure or Ember base colour. The plate must reach exactly the right base hue — the enamel above it only accentuates the gradient beneath.

Translucent layers
A slim border is protected at the periphery to hold the translucent paint, which is then applied in careful thin layers so the engraving reads clearly through the enamel.

Fired above 800 °C
Once set, the dial is baked in grand feu at over 800 °C, and returned to the kiln repeatedly. One crack or fracture at any firing renders the dial useless.
As with the mechanical marvel of tiny wheels, teeth and springs all working in harmony, so too must the conditions under which these dials are produced synchronise.
The Movement
Familiar yet fresh
The AMT6600, first seen in the Classic One, also powers the HN02, and the same skeletonisation is found in the architecture of the bridges. The galvanisation scheme, however, is entirely different: the bridges carry a matte, softly hammered finish on their top plane, set against a contrasting polished anglage.
The mainplate is galvanised to a yellow-gold hue with a soft hammering and leuer effect. Screw heads and jewel sinks are mirror polished. The movement is COSC-certified, and remains a chronometer.
Inspiration
The scheme is reminiscent of early 19th-century pocket-watch decoration, retaining the traditional inspiration that runs through Aren’s designs. The rhodium treatment of the bridges, set against the now-unconventional choice of a yellow-gold mainplate, was a nuanced and specific decision — not a default.
The Finish
Diamond-like carbon
The HN02 is offered in two case finishes: a standard Grade-5 titanium, and a DLC treatment. The standard finish carries an admitted timeless elegance; the DLC offers a more contemporary one, with stark contrast between the case and the galvanisation schemes it frames.
The treatment itself is technically demanding. The case is first brought to its standard finish, polished or brushed, then ultrasonically cleaned — adhesion requires a perfectly clean surface. It is placed in a vacuum-sealed chamber to void any reaction with oxygen and bombarded with ions to activate a microscopically rough surface ready to receive the layer.
Through physical vapour deposition, hydrocarbon gas is introduced; under plasma conditions the gases break down and deposit as amorphous carbon of diamond-like hardness. The film grows atom by atom to a thickness of two to four microns. The case is then cooled, removed, and inspected for perfect uniformity.
The Collection
Forty-three pieces. Four expressions.
The HN02 is produced in forty-three examples in total — two dial colourways, each available in two case finishes. Every dial is engine-turned and fired individually, so no two are quite alike.
