URUGA 42 Rubber Model [UG03-RBKNGY-SSD]
MINASE says a single part of one of its watches can take a polisher up to ninety minutes. The gray URUGA 42 is the reference where that work is easiest to notice, because nothing on the dial pulls your eye away from the case.
The technique is Sallaz polishing, a discipline that originated in Switzerland and which MINASE revived in Akita. Each face is held against a rotating plate charged with fine diamond dust, pressure regulated by fingertip, so the surface stays planar. A soft buffing wheel would round the corner and bend the reflection; this leaves a mirror with no distortion and an edge that stays crisp. On the URUGA 42 that finish lands on the four voluminously cut clasps of the clamping structure, which hold case and crystal together like prongs around a stone.
The gray dial carries the horizontal gradation MINASE draws from the Minase River, shifting between pale silver and something closer to slate. Black rubber keeps the configuration practical. The steel case is 42.0 mm wide, 48.0 mm long including the lugs and 10.2 mm thick with the sapphire, and the self-winding KT7002, a MINASE-finished Swiss ETA 2892 and Sellita SW300 base, provides hours, minutes, seconds and date.
Rated 5 atm, it handles rain and splashes only. Quiet on the wrist until the light moves.
Perfect for: gray dial rubber strap watches, hand-polished case enthusiasts, low-key everyday automatic buyers.
