URUGA 31 Leather Model [UG02-CGYNWH-SSB]

A white dial on a gray strap sets a low bar for drama and clears it anyway. The URUGA 31 does its work in the details.

Start with the bezel. MINASE splits it into four elaborately faceted clasps that clamp the case and the crystal together, a structure lifted straight from the prong settings jewelers use to hold a stone. The sapphire they hold has a slight vertical curvature, so a watch this flat still catches light along its length.

Then the dial. White here, with the horizontal gradation pattern MINASE draws from the Minase River in Akita, and indices cut obliquely, a form inspired by the front of a kimono. The result is a face that changes as it turns rather than one that simply reflects.

The steel case is 31 mm wide, 39 mm long and 9.9 mm thick, paired with a gray leather strap, which makes this one of the most discreet ways into the brand's hand-finished case work. The movement is the self-winding KT8001, a Swiss ETA 2671 and Sellita SW100 base finished by MINASE, with a date. Rated 5 atm, so splashes and rain only.
