Chronographs and water usually make an awkward pair. The Sternglas TACHYMETER 2.0 is rated to 10 bar, or 100 meters, and on a dark blue rubber strap matched to its dark blue dial it becomes the rare racing chronograph you can wear off a boat.

Sternglas designed the TACHYMETER 2.0 as its motorsport watch, with a tachymeter scale for converting elapsed time into average speed and a rally motif engraved into the caseback. The dial follows a tri-compax sector layout: 24-hour register at three, running seconds and the date at six, 60-minute counter at nine. It is the loudest thing the Hamburg brand makes, and the only one that clearly answers to the racetrack rather than the drawing board.

The case is 44 mm across in polished and brushed 316L stainless steel, with an aluminum bezel insert and a double-domed sapphire crystal carrying anti-reflective coating on both surfaces. The Seiko/TMI VK63 meca-quartz movement pairs quartz timekeeping with a mechanically driven chronograph, giving a sweeping chrono hand and a snap reset. The 20 mm rubber strap keeps the whole package weather-proof.
