TACHYMETER 2.0 dark blue silver / Modena 20 black
Black leather narrows a big watch. On the dark blue TACHYMETER 2.0 it pulls the eye back to the dial, where Sternglas has laid out three registers in a sector arrangement that owes more to 1960s stopwatches than to the reduced Bauhaus dials the brand is known for.
The TACHYMETER 2.0 is the sportiest and largest design in the Sternglas catalog, and a deliberate departure from the rest of it. The tri-compax layout puts a 24-hour register at three, running seconds with the date at six, and a 60-minute counter at nine, with a tachymeter scale for reading average speed over a known distance and a rally motif engraved on the caseback.
The case is 44 mm of polished and brushed 316L stainless steel with an aluminum bezel insert and 10 bar of water resistance, which is 100 meters. A double-domed sapphire crystal with double anti-reflective coating covers the dark blue dial. Power comes from a Seiko/TMI VK63 meca-quartz movement, combining quartz accuracy with a mechanically driven chronograph that sweeps rather than ticks and snaps cleanly back to zero. The Modena strap is black leather at 20 mm.
Blue dial, black leather, silver case: the most formal way to wear a chronograph this size.
Perfect for: blue dial chronographs, black leather strap sports watches, meca-quartz chronograph buyers.
