Sportivo Big Date — Black Dial / Steel Bracelet

Black dial, black ceramic bezel inlay, brushed steel bracelet. This is the Sportivo Big Date at its most conventional, and its most useful.

Mühle-Glashütte added the Big Date to its 2024 Sportivo family as the model that shows off a piece of engineering it can claim outright. The MU9424-GD is the first Mühle movement built around an in-house developed big date module, and it is a proper Glashütte-style two-element mechanism: a units ring paired with a tens star, giving a date at 6 o'clock that reads across the room. Mühle designed the module to be positionable, so it can be adapted to other layouts in future.

Here the 42.5 mm stainless steel case, 12.5 mm tall, is matched to a matte silver steel bracelet running 177 mm to a folding clasp, at 195 grams complete. The bidirectional rotating bezel carries its black ceramic inlay, the crystal is 2.2 mm of double anti-reflective sapphire, and the crown screws down for 30 bar. Hour markers and hands are coated with Super-LumiNova, and the exhibition caseback opens onto the movement, which runs 41 hours.

A 50.2 mm lug-to-lug on a 42.5 mm case makes it sit compactly for a watch with this much bezel.
