MINASE builds every watch to order in Akita, from hand-crafted components assembled one at a time, and the beauty it is after is the kind that cannot come off a production line. The clearest evidence is on the case: hand polishing done against a hard rotating plate rather than a soft wheel, so the mirrored planes stay flat and the ridges between them stay crisp.

The dial is a traditional Japanese hammered pattern grown by electroforming, and ice blue is the lightest of the four YUKI-HIRA colors. It gives up its texture readily, shifting from near-white to a cool gray-blue as the wrist turns. Seven sapphire windows around the case, six in its faceted body and one made by the crown being split into two, feed it light from every side.

Steel case at 37.4 by 46.5 mm, 13 mm thick with the crystal, on black rubber at about 98 grams. Self-winding KT7002 with date, 5 atm splash resistance.
