S.A.R. Rescue-Timer LUMEN — Cream Dial / Steel Bracelet (M1-41-08-MB)
Mühle pressure-tested the S.A.R. Rescue-Timer case at 250 bar, two and a half times its rating. The caseback dented inward into a shallow dome and the watch stayed watertight.
That is the sort of detail that defines the S.A.R. Rescue-Timer, developed by Mühle-Glashütte with the German Maritime Search and Rescue Service and handed to its coxswains from February 2002. The crystal is 4 mm of double anti-reflective sapphire, around three times the thickness of a normal watch glass. The LUMEN reworks the dial rather than the case: the face is completely covered in Super-LumiNova over a cream ground, so it glows as a single field, with black-coated skeletonized hands standing out in front of it.
This reference pairs the 42.0 mm matte steel case with a matte silver stainless steel bracelet set with black rubber inserts, a construction that echoes the soft black rubber bezel and drops some weight out of the links. Folding clasp, 190 mm of bracelet length. Magnified date at 4 o'clock, solid screwed caseback, and the SW 200-1, Version Mühle automatic with woodpecker neck regulation, stop-seconds and 41 hours of reserve. Water resistant to 100 bar.
The bracelet turns a rescue instrument into something you can wear to an office without explanation.
Perfect for: steel and rubber bracelet enthusiasts, over-engineered tool watch buyers, everyday 100 bar watch seekers.
