S.A.R. Rescue-Timer — Black Dial / Red Rubber
Red rubber against a black dial is the only concession to color the S.A.R. Rescue-Timer makes, and on a rescue watch it reads as signal rather than styling.
Mühle-Glashütte developed the model with the coxswains of the German Maritime Search and Rescue Service, an organization that has saved more than 87,000 people since 1865 and takes no state funding at all. Crews use the Rescue-Timer during night operations, which is why the dial is loaded with Super-LumiNova.
The case is matte stainless steel, 42.0 mm in diameter, 13.5 mm high and just 47.6 mm lug to lug, wearing shorter than its diameter suggests. Its bezel is soft rubber, specified so that nothing sharp meets a casualty in the water. A 4 mm double anti-reflective sapphire crystal, a magnifier over the date at 4 o'clock, a solid screwed caseback and 100 bar of water resistance. The SW 200-1 Version Mühle automatic gives 41 hours and hacks for setting. Red rubber strap, steel folding clasp.
The most visible of the rubber configurations, and the one that looks like it belongs on a boat.
Perfect for: red strap watches, high-visibility sports automatics, maritime watch collectors.
