S.A.R. Rescue-Timer — Blue Dial / Steel Bracelet
Mühle-Glashütte had the S.A.R. Rescue-Timer case tested at 250 bar, two and a half times its rating. Only the caseback gave, denting spherically while staying watertight.
The watch exists because Mühle went to the German Maritime Search and Rescue Service in 2001 and asked what a sea-rescue crew actually needed. The answers were robustness, night legibility and no sharp edges. The first examples were handed to the service's coxswains in February 2002, and the design has needed little since.
This Rescue-Timer pairs the deep blue dial and blue rubber bezel with a 190 mm matte steel bracelet and folding clasp. The steel case measures 42.0 mm in diameter, 13.5 mm tall and 47.6 mm lug to lug, with a 4 mm double anti-reflective sapphire crystal, a magnifier over the date at 4 o'clock and a solid screwed caseback. Rated to 100 bar. The SW 200-1 Version Mühle automatic runs 41 hours and carries Mühle's patented shock-resistant woodpecker neck fine regulation.
The bracelet makes it wearable as an everyday steel watch rather than only a sea watch. Blue softens a serious tool.
Perfect for: steel bracelet tool watches, blue dial sports automatics, extreme water resistance seekers.
