The octagon is the shape that pulled G-SHOCK into rooms it had never been invited into. Rendered in titanium and finished by hand, it makes a different argument entirely.

MR-G is the G-SHOCK flagship, running since 1996 and assembled at Yamagata Casio on the Premium Production Line, one technician to a watch. The B2100 is the slimmest of the analog-digital MR-G cases and the closest the line comes to something you could wear under a cuff.

The case measures 49.5 by 44.4 mm and 13.6 mm tall. Titanium throughout, with COBARION on the bezel, a cobalt-chrome alloy Casio rates around four times harder than pure titanium and used here because it takes a mirror polish that holds. A diamond-like coating gives the case its dark, even tone. The solid titanium bracelet closes on a tight-lock three-fold clasp. Sapphire crystal, 200 meters of water resistance, Tough Solar, Multi Band 6 and Bluetooth.

Dark, dense and more restrained than its dimensions suggest. For someone who wants the octagonal shape without the resin that made it famous.
