MR-G MRG-B2000JS-1A — Katana Forged
Casio commissioned a katana, the Juryoku-Maru: San, and then built a watch from what its blade looks like. The bezel carries the edge pattern that swordsmith Kamiyama forged into the original.
This is the most craft-led piece in the G-SHOCK MR-G range. MR-G has been the flagship line since 1996, assembled at Yamagata Casio on the Premium Production Line by one technician per watch.
The case measures 54.7 by 49.8 mm and 16.9 mm tall. The bezel is recrystallized hybrid titanium, finished with deep layer hardening, arc ion plating on the case and a diamond-like coating on the bezel so the surfaces read as separate materials. The band is DAT55G, a titanium alloy Casio describes as three times harder than pure titanium. DAT is a registered trademark of Daido Steel Co., Ltd. Sapphire crystal, 200 meters of water resistance, Tough Solar, Multi Band 6 and Bluetooth.
A watch built around a single idea and carried through completely. For a collector who cares where a finish came from and why it looks that way.
