HAMBURG Edition 1911 dark blue silver / Vintage 20 mocha

Blue and brown is an old pairing and a reliable one. Here the Sternglas HAMBURG Edition 1911 sets a dark blue dial against a mocha leather strap, which is enough to move the watch from cool to companionable.

Every HAMBURG takes its cue from seafaring instruments, the kind built to be read quickly and without ambiguity. That means full Arabic numerals, a hairline minute scale at the outer edge, luminous hands, and a 42 mm case that gives them room. Sternglas, working out of Hamburg since 2016, applies the same restraint here that it applies to its smaller Bauhaus-style models.

The dark blue dial sits in a silver-tone steel case measuring 42 mm across, with a date display and a quartz movement. Double-domed sapphire with double anti-reflective coating covers the dial, and the watch is rated to 5 bar. The strap is the Vintage line in mocha, a mid-brown leather cut for the 20 mm lugs, and it produces the warmest reading of this Edition 1911 configuration.

It works with denim and with gray flannel, which is not something every blue-dial watch manages.
