Gold and deep blue is a naval combination long before it is a fashionable one. The Sternglas HAMBURG in dark blue and gold puts it on a black Heritage leather strap, which keeps the whole thing from tipping into ceremony.

The HAMBURG collection is Sternglas's tribute to its home city, and its dial follows the conventions of seafaring measuring instruments: full Arabic numerals, a fine outer minute scale and Luminova where legibility demands it. The screwed caseback is engraved with a map of Hamburg, the Alster, the Reeperbahn, the Speicherstadt and the Landungsbrücken all traced into the steel.

This is the quartz version. The Swiss Ronda 715 runs for about 60 months on a battery, hacks its seconds hand for precise setting, and carries a date. The case is 42 mm of 316L stainless steel in a gold tone, the dial dark blue, the crystal sapphire with anti-reflective coating on both surfaces, and water resistance 5 bar. The Heritage strap is 4 mm cowhide with an alligator emboss, black, 20 mm, and changes without tools.
