HAMBURG Chrono green bronze / Vintage 20 mocha

Green dial, bronze-toned case, mocha leather. The Sternglas HAMBURG Chrono in this combination is one of the few chronographs that contains no cool tones at all.

The HAMBURG collection is Sternglas's homage to the port city where the brand was founded in 2016, and its dials borrow from seafaring measuring instruments rather than from dress watchmaking. Numerals are large and unadorned, a fine minute scale rings the outer edge, Luminova sits on the hands and markers, and the screwed caseback is engraved with a map of Hamburg including the Alster, the Reeperbahn, the Speicherstadt and the Landungsbrücken.

This version measures 42 mm and runs on a Vintage-line leather strap in mocha at 20 mm, a brown that sits close to the case tone rather than contrasting with it. The movement is a Seiko/TMI VK64 meca-quartz chronograph, which means quartz accuracy driving a mechanical chronograph: a sweeping hand at five steps per second and a snap back to zero. Date at six, 24-hour register, double-domed sapphire with double anti-reflective coating, 5 bar.

Everything about this one is warm and low-contrast. It suits someone whose wardrobe already runs to olive, camel and rust.
