Orange stitching on black Italian cowhide, with a pull-up finish that lightens where the leather bends. The Edition strap Küste gives the Sternglas HAMBURG Chrono a texture the standard leathers do not have.

The HAMBURG collection is Sternglas's homage to its home city, with dials modeled on seafaring measuring instruments and a screwed caseback engraved with a map of Hamburg covering the Alster, the Reeperbahn, the Speicherstadt and the Landungsbrücken. Numerals are bold, the outer minute scale is fine, and Luminova handles low light. Küste is German for coast, and it names the edition series this strap belongs to, not the material.

The watch is a 42 mm stainless steel Chrono with a dark blue dial, a 24-hour register and a date at six, driven by a Seiko/TMI VK64 meca-quartz calibre that keeps time by quartz and drives the chronograph mechanically, sweeping at five steps per second with a snap reset. The strap is 3 mm Italian vintage cowhide with a cut edge, 20 mm, quick-change fitted. Sapphire, double anti-reflective coated, 5 bar.

The orange thread ties into the dial's accents and ages into the leather. Expect it to look better in a year.
