G-SHOCK GM-700-1A - Metal-Clad Analog-Digital
The GM-700 revives a case shape G-SHOCK used in the 1990s, when the brand's answer to every problem was to make the bezel larger.
It belongs to the G-STEEL family in its metal-clad form, a stainless steel bezel over a bio-based resin case, on a resin band. The proportions are deliberately period: 58.4 by 53.4 mm and 18.6 mm deep, with the guards standing well clear of the crystal.
Silver face under a steel bezel, black resin band, 111 grams. Two hands run over a digital display. Module 5522 covers 31 time zones, a stopwatch, a countdown timer, alarms and a full auto-calendar, on a five-year battery. 200 m water resistant.
Unashamedly large and openly retro. It looks like the decade it came from, which is the reason to want it.
