G-SHOCK GM-5600M-1 - Metal-Clad Square
Put a steel bezel on the 1983 square and you get the watch a lot of people wanted for thirty-five years without quite saying so.
The GM-5600 is the metal-clad member of G-SHOCK's 5600 Series: a stainless steel bezel bolted over a resin case, on a resin band. Metal-clad is not the same as Full Metal, where the case and bracelet are steel too. Here the steel is the part you see and the resin is the part that absorbs.
All black, in a case 49.6 by 43.2 mm and 13 mm deep at 73 grams, on a band made from biomass plastics. The LED backlight is a Super Illuminator with afterglow. Module 3525 runs a 1/100-second stopwatch, a countdown timer, a multi-function alarm and a full auto-calendar, on a five-year battery. 200 m water resistant.
Half the weight of the full metal square and most of the look. The sensible way into a steel G-SHOCK.
