Blacking out a steel bezel is a way of having the metal without advertising it, and on the square it works particularly well.
The GM-5600BM is a metal-clad model in G-SHOCK's 5600 Series, with a stainless steel bezel finished in black over a resin case and a band moulded from biomass plastics. The case underneath is unchanged from the standard square, which is why the shock structure and the 73-gram weight stay where they are.
Black end to end, in a case 49.6 by 43.2 mm and 13 mm deep. Super Illuminator backlight with afterglow. Module 3525 carries a 1/100-second stopwatch, a countdown timer, an alarm and a full auto-calendar, five years to a battery. 200 m water resistant.
Reads as an ordinary black square until the light finds a bezel edge. That is the entire idea.
