FIVE WINDOWS Mid Leather model [VM07-C12SD-KCR]
A round dial inside a square case is an old idea. The MINASE FIVE WINDOWS Mid does something more literal with it. The dial is genuinely a separate structure, held in an inner case that a second case then encloses.
MINASE calls this case-in-case. There is a caseback, an inner case carrying the movement, a dial with a curved surface, an index ring fastened above the dial, and an outer case wrapping all of it. Parts are cut to drawing in the order of a thousandth of a millimeter, because nothing in the assembly forgives slack. The result is a dial that appears to float rather than sit.
Reference VM07-C12SD-KCR is the FIVE WINDOWS Mid on leather, about 66.3 g, in a case 32 mm wide by 40.3 mm long and 11.6 mm thick with the crystal. Light reaches the dial through the front sapphire, the sapphire panes in the case sides and the sapphire display back. The movement is the self-winding caliber KT8001 with date, built on a Swiss ETA 2671 / Sellita SW100 base and finished by MINASE. 5 atm.
An architectural watch that stays quiet on the wrist.
Perfect for: case-in-case construction enthusiasts, floating dial designs, small square dress watches.
