DIVIDO Rubber Model [VM14-RBKNBK-SSD]

Solid black dial, black rubber strap, steel case finished to a mirror. In this configuration the MINASE DIVIDO is almost entirely about the contrast between a matte surface and a polished one.

The polished half is done by Sallaz polishing, a Swiss-origin hand discipline MINASE revived and made its own. Each face is worked against a rotating tin plate coated in fine diamond dust, with the craftsman controlling pressure through the fingertips alone. Because the plate stays flat, the mirror comes out free of distortion and the edges where two faces meet stay crisp instead of rounding over. MINASE applies it to case parts, indexes and bracelets alike.

Reference VM14-RBKNBK-SSD holds the solid black dial in the 40.6 by 40.6 mm DIVIDO case-in-case, 11 mm thick including the sapphire crystal, on black rubber at about 91 g. The movement is the self-winding caliber KT7002 with date, built on a Swiss ETA 2892 / Sellita SW300 base. Rated 5 atm, for rain and splashes.

Understated from three feet away and considerably less so up close.
