Cool dial, warm strap. The titanium-gray face of this 29er Day/Date sits against coffee brown canvas, and the sand-metallic inner ring bridges the two so the whole thing reads as deliberate rather than accidental.

Mühle-Glashütte introduced the 29er line in 2006 and took its name from the 29er sailing dinghy, the youth class that leads to the Olympic 49er. The idea was an approachable route into Glashütte watchmaking: sporty-classic proportions, high legibility, no rotating bezels and a colored flange as the recurring family detail.

Day and date share a single position at three o'clock, so the dial stays uncluttered around its applied, luminous indices. Central seconds run from the middle. The stainless steel case measures 42.4 mm in diameter and 12.2 mm high, spanning 49 mm between lugs, and the 22 mm coffee brown canvas strap closes on a steel pin buckle at 109 grams. Beneath the exhibition caseback, a Swiss automatic base carries Mühle's patented woodpecker neck fine regulation, a shock-resistant development of the Glashütte swan-neck, with 41 hours of running time.

Understated but not dull, and easy to live with all week. The brown canvas softens a case that is otherwise all business.
