29er Big Small Second — Deep Blue Dial / Ocean Blue Canvas
The 29er takes its name from a boat, not a measurement. Mühle-Glashütte borrowed it from the 29er sailing dinghy, the youth class that carries young crews up toward the Olympic 49er, and built the watch in 2006 as the same sort of introduction to Glashütte watchmaking.
Within that family, the 29er Big Small Second is the quietly technical one. Its seconds hand steps out of the center and settles into an open inner scale at six o'clock, a layout Mühle first showed in the Edition 1994 and later moved into regular production. The rest follows the family recipe: applied indices, Super-LumiNova on hands and markers, no rotating bezel, a screw-down crown and 10 bar of pressure resistance.
This is the deep blue version on ocean-blue canvas. The dial is dark enough that the slim Arabic numerals and the high-contrast minute track carry the legibility, with the date set at three. The steel case measures 42 mm across, 11.3 mm high and 49 mm from lug to lug, and the canvas strap on a pin buckle keeps the whole watch to 61 grams. Inside runs the SW 261-1 in Version Mühle specification, good for 41 hours, with stop-seconds hacking for setting to the second.
Blue on blue, maritime without the costume. Light enough that you stop noticing it by mid-morning.
Perfect for: blue dial automatic watch buyers, small seconds enthusiasts, sailing and coastal wear.
