29er Big — White Dial / Black Pigskin
Leather changes the argument. On black pigskin, the white 29er Big stops looking like a sailing watch and starts looking like something you could wear with a jacket. Mühle-Glashütte offers this dial in five different builds, and this is the dressiest of them.
The 29er took its name from the two-person dinghy that carries young sailors toward the Olympic 49er class, and arrived in 2006 as Mühle's way into Glashütte watchmaking. The Big shares everything with the smaller model except its dimensions.
42.4 mm of stainless steel, 11.3 mm deep, on a black pigskin strap 22 mm at the lugs with a steel pin buckle. The white dial is clean: applied indices with Super-LumiNova, luminous hands, a date at 3 o'clock and nothing crowding the flange. Sapphire front and back, with the exhibition caseback showing Mühle's own rotor, weighted at the rim with a heavy-metal segment and riding a ball bearing. The automatic SW 200-1, Version Mühle carries 41 hours and hacking seconds. 10 bar.
Large, but flat enough to sit under a cuff, and the most formal way to wear this dial.
Perfect for: white dial leather strap watches, business casual automatics, larger wrists.
