29er Big — South Sea Blue Dial / Steel Bracelet
Steel and deep blue is the classic sports-watch pairing, and the 29er Big adds a petrol-colored rehaut to keep it from being predictable. Mühle-Glashütte finishes the bracelet with a folding clasp and rates the whole watch to 10 bar.
The 29er name comes from the youth sailing dinghy that leads to the Olympic 49er class. Mühle introduced the watch in 2006 as a way into Glashütte watchmaking, and the maritime streak is genuine: the company re-started in 1994 building marine chronometers and ship's clocks, and still carries nautical instruments in its legal name.
The case is 42.4 mm wide, 11.3 mm deep and 49 mm lug to lug, in stainless steel with a screw-down crown and anti-reflective sapphire. The 190 mm bracelet closes on a folding clasp. The South Sea blue dial holds applied Super-LumiNova indices, luminous hands and a date at 3 o'clock. Through the caseback, the automatic SW 200-1, Version Mühle shows its Mühle rotor and Glashütte finishing, with 41 hours of reserve and stop-seconds for setting.
The all-in version of the most maritime dial in the range.
Perfect for: blue dial steel bracelet watches, summer sports automatics, everyday nautical style.
