29er Big — Sand Dial / Stone Gray Canvas
Grey against sand is the most restrained way to wear the 29er Big's warmest dial. The blue flange still supplies the accent, and everything else steps back. Mühle-Glashütte has always been better at restraint than at spectacle.
Named after the 29er dinghy, the youth sailing class that feeds the Olympic 49er, the model has been the family firm's introduction to Glashütte watchmaking since 2006. Robert Mühle founded the business in 1869 to make precision measuring instruments, and six generations later it is still Mühle-owned.
The sand dial carries applied indices coated with Super-LumiNova and a date at 3 o'clock, inside a stainless steel case 42.4 mm wide and 11.3 mm deep. Stone grey canvas, 22 mm, pin buckle. Sapphire above the dial and another over the movement, where the automatic SW 200-1, Version Mühle runs for 41 hours between windings and its bidirectional rotor keeps it topped up as you move. 10 bar.
An unusual dial color handled soberly, for someone who wants both at once.
Perfect for: sand or beige dial watches, neutral strap combinations, understated colorful automatics.
