29er Big — Sand Dial / Nautical Blue Canvas
Sand and blue is a coastal palette, and the 29er Big states it twice: a sand-colored dial ringed by a nautic-blue rehaut, the sloped inner flange between dial and crystal, on a matching nautic blue canvas strap. Mühle-Glashütte uses that contrasting ring as the line's signature.
The 29er name comes from the sailing dinghy that prepares youth crews for the Olympic 49er, and Mühle built the watch in 2006 as an introduction to Glashütte watchmaking. The nautical palette is not decoration for its own sake; the firm's marine identity goes back to the ship's clocks and chronometers it made when it re-started in 1994.
The case is stainless steel, 42.4 mm wide, 11.3 mm tall, 49 mm lug to lug, with anti-reflective sapphire and a display back. Applied indices with Super-LumiNova sit on the sand dial, with the date at 3 o'clock. The 22 mm canvas strap fastens with a steel pin buckle. The automatic SW 200-1, Version Mühle provides 41 hours, hacking seconds and 10 bar.
About as coastal as a watch gets without a dive bezel, and the most fun of the five in sunlight.
Perfect for: sand and blue summer watches, beach and boating wear, colorful sports automatics.
