29er — Black Dial / Dark Brown Tiber Leather
Dark brown leather warms a black dial the way a wooden deck warms a gray sky. In this pairing the Mühle-Glashütte 29er leans country rather than coastal, without losing the legibility the line was built around.
Mühle developed the 29er in 2006 and named it after the 29er sailing dinghy, the two-handed youth boat that feeds the Olympic 49er class. The point of the name is progression, not size: this is a full Glashütte automatic, not a shortened one.
The dial is black with applied indices, Super-LumiNova on the markers and hands, and the date at 3 o'clock. The steel case measures 36.6 by 10.4 mm and rides on a dark brown Tiber strap, 18 mm wide, with a pin buckle. Its automatic caliber, the SW 200-1, Version Mühle, holds 41 hours, stops its seconds hand when the crown is pulled, and is regulated by Mühle's woodpecker neck system, patented in 2003 for its resistance to shock.
Understated on a smaller wrist, and comfortable enough that the leather will outlast your interest in swapping it.
Perfect for: brown strap black dial watches, autumn and winter wear, understated Glashütte automatics.
