29er — Black Dial / Black Pigskin
All black, all the way through: black dial, black pigskin, steel case. The 29er in this configuration is the most self-effacing watch Mühle-Glashütte builds at this size, which is meant as a compliment.
Glashütte, in Saxony, is where the Mühle family has worked since 1869, first on precision measuring instruments, later on automotive and marine instruments, and since the mid-1990s on watches. The 29er arrived in 2006, named for the sailing dinghy that prepares young crews for the Olympic 49er and intended, in the same spirit, to be someone's introduction to Glashütte watchmaking.
36.6 mm of stainless steel, 10.4 mm tall, 42.6 mm lug to lug, on an 18 mm black pigskin strap with a steel pin buckle. Anti-reflective sapphire above, sapphire exhibition caseback below. The SW 200-1, Version Mühle is a Swiss automatic to which Mühle fits its patented woodpecker neck fine regulation and its own rotor, then finishes in the Glashütte manner with solarised surfaces, perlage and blued screws. 41 hours, date at 3, 10 bar.
The kind of watch you stop noticing on the wrist and would notice immediately if it were gone.
Perfect for: monochrome watch styling, discreet office automatics, small-case German watches.
