YUSAI Series “SEVEN WINDOWS ~Otherwise than being ” Leather model (Black) [VM15-CBKTTB-SSD]
The title is not a marketing line. “Otherwise than being” names the Blue Series that sits at the center of Towa TAKAYA's own practice, and MINASE's YUSAI dial for the SEVEN WINDOWS is a variation of that ongoing body of work.
TAKAYA, born in Tokyo in 1992 and trained at Central Saint Martins and Goldsmiths, paints each YUSAI dial by hand with pigments she prepares herself. Layering multiple shades of blue, the Blue Series generates a depth that seems to sit behind the surface rather than on it, and MINASE created the series to mark twenty years of the brand.
She chose it deliberately for this watch. The SEVEN WINDOWS is built case-in-case, with three-dimensional indices that appear to float in mid-air, and she painted a variation that conveys the same suspension and weightlessness. The case is stainless steel, a six-faceted square 37.4 mm wide, 46.5 mm tall and 13 mm thick with the sapphire, its crown split in two on the flank so the glass windows total seven. Black leather strap. The self-winding KT7002 calibre, a Swiss ETA 2892-A2 / Sellita SW300 base finished by MINASE, carries the date, and the watch is rated 5 atm.
Each dial unfolds with its own chromatic depth, so the encounter is specific to the example you own.
Perfect for: blue art dials, floating index architecture, buyers following a working artist's series.
