URUGA 31 Leather Model [UG02-CPKNPK-SSB]

Pink is a difficult dial color to make serious. The URUGA 31 manages it by treating the color as water rather than decoration.

MINASE patterns every URUGA dial with a horizontal gradation modelled on the Minase River, and that structure holds whatever color it is given. In pink the bands read as light on a surface rather than as a flat tint, and the obliquely cut hour indices, shaped after the crossed front of a kimono, keep breaking the reflection into pieces.

The steel case around it is held by four separately faceted clasps that clamp case and crystal together, a construction borrowed from gemstone settings and cut with enough volume to be the dominant visual element from above. The sapphire between them curves slightly along its vertical axis, and every mirrored surface has been polished by hand so the reflections stay true.

Paired with a pink leather strap, at 31 by 39 mm and 9.9 mm thick, this is a small and genuinely slim watch. The self-winding KT8001 with date is a Swiss ETA 2671 and Sellita SW100 base finished and decorated by MINASE. Rated 5 atm.
