Teutonia Sport I — Black and Red Dial / Black Calf Leather
Mühle built speedometers before it built wristwatches. From 1918 the family firm in Glashütte supplied rev counters and speedometers to Horch, DKW, Wanderer and BMW, three of the four marques that became Auto Union. The Teutonia Sport I is what that inheritance looks like on a wrist.
Mühle-Glashütte gives its motorsport chronograph a black dial with red accents and a tri-compax layout: 30-minute counter at 12, small seconds at 9, 12-hour counter at 6, with the date just off 4 o'clock. A red-on-black tachymeter scale runs around the rehaut, calibrated over a 1,000-meter base, and the start pusher carries a red accent of its own. Above it sits a bidirectional rotating bezel with a 60-minute scale.
The steel case is 42.6 mm wide, 15.5 mm high and 52.1 mm lug to lug, on black calfskin stitched in red with a steel pin buckle. Applied indices and hands are coated with Super-LumiNova. Mühle's own MU 9413 automatic drives it, built around the traditional Glashütte three-quarter plate. Anti-reflective sapphire, exhibition caseback, 10 bar.
A driver's chronograph with a documented reason to exist.
Perfect for: motorsport chronograph buyers, tachymeter watch collectors, black and red dial chronographs.
