TACHYMETER 2.0 black silver / Field 20 black-beige
Beige stripes against black nylon, and a black dial above them. The Sternglas TACHYMETER 2.0 in this configuration reads like a piece of vintage rally equipment rather than a modern chronograph, which is roughly the point.
Sternglas built the TACHYMETER 2.0 as a departure from its usual restraint. The dial is tri-compax and sector-styled, with a 24-hour register at three, running seconds and the date at six, and a 60-minute counter at nine. Around them runs the tachymeter scale, which turns a timed run over a known distance into an average speed without any arithmetic on your part. The caseback carries a rally motif engraving.
The case is 44 mm of polished and brushed 316L stainless steel with an aluminum bezel insert, rated to 10 bar, or 100 meters, and covered by a double-domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both faces. A Seiko/TMI VK63 meca-quartz movement supplies quartz timekeeping with a mechanically driven chronograph, so the chrono hand sweeps and resets with a snap. The Field strap is 1.5 mm nylon in black and beige, 20 mm at the lugs.
Big, black, legible, and light enough to forget you have it on.
Perfect for: vintage inspired rally chronographs, black dial nylon strap watches, lightweight large watches.
