Stratoscope – black/blue/gold
Gold changes the temperature of a night sky. On this Stratoscope the moon and the dial furniture take on a golden tone against black and iridescent blue, and MeisterSinger's largest moonphase turns from cool astronomy into something closer to firelight.
The Stratoscope is a moonphase and a date, nothing more exotic. An oversized three-dimensional moon fills the upper dial, carried on a rotating disc that holds two textured moons, and it is precise enough to need adjustment only every 122 years. The blue that washes the lower third of the dial is an aurora effect produced by the finish rather than an indication, and the starfield impression comes from the same place. A single needle hand shows the hour on a five-minute scale, with the date at 6 o'clock.
The case is 43 mm stainless steel with 20 mm lugs and a brown strap, rated 5 bar. Powering it is the MS Luna calibre, a Sellita SW220 with an integrated moonphase module, running 38 hours. Moon, numerals, markers and hand all glow once the lights drop.
The warmer of the two Stratoscope dials and the one that reads as dressier on the wrist.
Perfect for: gold accent moonphase buyers, collectors of celestial dial designs, shoppers looking for a large evening watch.
