S.A.R. Rescue-Timer LUMEN — Cream Dial / Red Rubber

One note of color on an otherwise monochrome watch, and on this S.A.R. Rescue-Timer LUMEN it goes to the strap.

The soft rubber bezel on the Mühle-Glashütte S.A.R. Rescue-Timer exists for two reasons, and the second one explains the watch. It absorbs impact, and it prevents the casualty being lifted from the water from being cut on a hard edge. The case is deliberately rounded for the same reason. Requirements like that came from the coxswains of the German Maritime Search and Rescue Service, to whom Mühle handed the first watches in February 2002. The LUMEN adds a dial completely coated in Super-LumiNova over a cream background, with black-coated skeletonized hands cutting across it.

This variant sets the 42.0 mm matte stainless steel case against a red rubber strap on a steel folding clasp, the single strongest color statement in the LUMEN line. Everything structural stays the same: black rubber bezel, 4 mm double anti-reflective sapphire, magnified date at 4 o'clock, solid caseback stamped with the S.A.R. model designation, and 100 bar of pressure resistance. The automatic SW 200-1, Version Mühle delivers 41 hours and carries Mühle's woodpecker neck fine regulation, which holds its adjustment under shock.

A serious instrument that is not remotely solemn about it. The red reads brightest against the cream dial in daylight.
