S.A.R. Flieger-Chronograph — Black Dial / Steel Bracelet
A ten-second scale on the dial, for computing airspeed. That is the detail that tells you the S.A.R. Flieger-Chronograph was designed for a cockpit and not a boardroom.
Mühle-Glashütte developed the Flieger-Chronograph in 2010 with the rescue pilots of the German Navy, specified around Sea King helicopter crews. The large start pusher was relocated to 8 o'clock so it can be operated without pressure from the hand flying the aircraft, and the chronograph markings are orange for fast reading against the black dial.
This reference comes on a 175 mm matte steel bracelet with a folding clasp, which brings the complete watch to 241 grams. The steel case is 45.0 mm in diameter, 16.2 mm tall and 54.0 mm lug to lug, with a bidirectional rotating bezel over an aluminum inlay, a 2.5 mm anti-reflective sapphire crystal and an exhibition caseback showing Mühle's own MU 9413 caliber and its Glashütte three-quarter plate. Small seconds, date, Super-LumiNova, 10 bar of water resistance.
Substantial on the wrist and honest about it. The bracelet suits people who never wear rubber.
Perfect for: pilot chronograph collectors, steel bracelet tool watches, large 45 mm watch wearers.
