Pangaea – steel blue/gold

Steel blue and gold is the warmest combination in the Pangaea line, and the sun wheel turning once a minute gives it something to do.

MeisterSinger textured this dial with a repeating pattern of fermatas, the musical notation for a held pause and the emblem the German brand chose for itself in 2001. Gold-colored applied numerals stand above it, the minutes are rendered as dots instead of lines, and the small wheel makes a full rotation each minute purely as an animation. It does not indicate seconds and it is not a running seconds hand.

Everything else follows the Pangaea's dress-watch discipline. The time comes from one long needle against a scale of hours, halves, quarters and five-minute steps, which MeisterSinger describes as readable almost to the minute. The 40 mm stainless steel case wears 20 mm lugs and a cognac strap, carries a 5 bar rating and houses a Sellita SW261 automatic.

Dressy at first glance, quietly kinetic on second look, and unlike anything else on a formal strap.
