Neo Special Model – light red

Light red reads as warm rather than loud, closer to a faded coral than a fire engine. It is the friendliest dial in the Neo Special Model set.

MeisterSinger builds these specials by leaving the watch alone and changing only its face. The 36 mm Neo case, crystal, caseback and Swiss movement all carry over untouched, while the dial takes one of four pastel shades. The silver-gloss markers are printed in multiple layers for a low three-dimensional effect that moves with the viewing angle, and the hour and half-hour markers are set in a contrasting color matched to the dial.

The single hand is the constant. Since 2001 the German brand has asked one needle to do everything, reading against double-digit numerals and a scale divided into five-minute steps that the wearer interprets almost to the minute, the way you read a fuel gauge rather than a stopwatch. The 36 mm stainless steel case carries 18 mm lugs, 5 bar of water resistance and a Sellita SW200 automatic, on a light blue velour leather strap that plays against the dial rather than matching it.

Small, soft-colored and considerably more grown up than the palette suggests.
