NAOS XS Edition mother of pearl dark blue gold / Classic 16 black

Dark blue mother-of-pearl is a rarer thing than white, and considerably moodier. Set in gold and strapped in black, this Sternglas NAOS XS Edition Mother of Pearl is the dramatic corner of the edition.

Sternglas has kept the Naos deliberately spare since 2016, which leaves room for a dial material to carry the whole watch. Here that material is genuine mother-of-pearl in dark blue, cut from natural shell so the iridescence shifts as the light moves. It was on this edition that the Naos XS first gained Luminova.

The case is 33 mm across with 16 mm lugs, finished in gold tone to warm the cool dial. Timekeeping comes from a Ronda 784 Swiss quartz caliber with a date window, under domed sapphire with double anti-reflective coating, rated to 5 ATM. The Klassik 16 leather strap in black keeps the gold from tipping into ornament.

It is a small watch that behaves like a piece of jewelry without ever quite admitting to it.
