NAOS XS Edition Elyra gold gold / Classic 16 black

Gold against black leather draws a hard line around the dial. On a 33 mm watch, that outline is doing most of the work.

Sternglas has designed in Hamburg since 2016, and the Naos XS is its 33 mm case. The Edition Elyra was the first version of it built as a classic three-hand watch, with a sunray dial tone-matched to the polished case. Its caseback is engraved with two magpies and a harp, a nod to the Lyra of Greek myth.

This is the gold-on-gold configuration, running a Miyota GL12 quartz movement with a date, under a double-domed sapphire crystal coated to resist reflection on both faces. Water resistance is 5 bar and the lug width is 16 mm. The classic leather strap is black, which is the sharpest contrast the Elyra range offers against a gold case.

Formal in the evening, restrained enough for daytime, and small enough to sit under a sleeve without argument.
