Steel mesh on a steel case makes a 33 mm watch look like one continuous piece rather than an assembly.

The Naos is the Sternglas core line and the fullest expression of the brand's reduced, Bauhaus-inspired dial. Sternglas has designed from Hamburg since 2016, and the XS is its 33 mm case, made for wrists where a larger watch overhangs the bone. The Automatik version adds a mechanical movement where the size usually rules one out.

Inside is the Miyota 6T15 automatic, 28,800 vibrations per hour, hand-windable, with a date on the dial and a glass caseback held by six screws. The crystal is double-domed sapphire with anti-reflective coating on both faces, and the watch is rated to 5 bar. The Milanaise bracelet is 316L stainless steel mesh, 2.5 mm thick and 16 mm at the lugs, with a slider clasp that adjusts to any wrist size without tools.

Flexible, cool-toned and easy to size, it is the least fussy way to own a small mechanical watch.
