NAOS XL white silver / Modena 20 brown

Swap black leather for mid-brown and a white-dialed Naos stops being a formal watch and becomes a daily one.

Sternglas is a Hamburg design house founded in 2016, and the Naos is the line everything else in the catalog is measured against. Its dial follows the modernist maxim that form follows function, central to Bauhaus thinking: nothing printed that does not help you read the time, strong contrast between hands and background, geometry in place of decoration.

In XL form the case measures 42 mm on 20 mm lugs, polished 316L stainless steel around a white dial with silver hands. The movement is the Miyota GR12 quartz with a date, the crystal double-domed sapphire with anti-reflective coating on both surfaces, and water resistance 5 bar. The brown Modena leather softens the edges of what is otherwise a very cool-toned watch.

It reads relaxed rather than dressed, and it sits with denim more comfortably than most white dials this size.
