NAOS XL Edition 1905 dark green bronze / Modena 20 dark brown

Dark brown leather against a bronze case is the oldest good idea in watch pairing, and the Edition 1905 uses it without irony.

Sternglas has designed in Hamburg since 2016, and the Naos is its most stripped-back dial. Edition 1905 names the year the city's Speicherstadt was finished. The case is brushed PVD bronze, the dial dark green satin, the hands bronze with signal-orange accents. Turn it over and the caseback shows the Wasserschloss, the little moated house standing among the warehouse canals.

The XL case runs 42 mm wide on 20 mm lugs, with a quartz movement and a date. The crystal is double-domed sapphire, anti-reflective on both faces, and the watch is rated to 5 bar. This configuration comes on a Modena leather strap in dark brown, which lets the bronze read as aged metal rather than as a color decision.

It is the most conventionally dressy of the Edition 1905 variants, and the easiest of them to wear to work.
