Forty-two millimeters of mostly empty white dial. On a Naos, the empty part is the point.

The NAOS XL is the scaled-up reading of the design that made Sternglas known, and the Hamburg brand has resisted the temptation to fill the extra space with markings. What you get instead is more air between the indices and a longer sweep for the hands. Sternglas has designed this way since 2016, drawing on Bauhaus-inspired reduction and the modernist maxim that form follows function.

This version is automatic. The white dial sits in a polished 316L stainless steel case of 42 mm with 20 mm lugs, under a domed sapphire crystal with double anti-reflective coating, and a date appears on the dial. Water resistance is 5 bar. The black Premium leather strap is the most formal of the three leather options offered here, and it draws a clean dark line against the pale dial.

Suited to larger wrists and to anyone who reads a watch across a room rather than at arm's length.
