Two near-blacks that were never intended to match. The anthracite dial sits a few degrees lighter than the strap beneath it, and the gap between them is the whole design.

Sternglas works from Hamburg and has done since 2016, applying Bauhaus-inspired reduction to watches most people can actually reach. The NAOS is the line where that discipline is least diluted, and the NAOS PRO is its mechanical peak: the same uncrowded dial, now driven by an automatic movement rather than a battery.

The anthracite dial shifts between charcoal and pale smoke depending on the angle, set in a polished 316L stainless steel case of 38 mm with a domed sapphire crystal and double anti-reflective coating over it. A Miyota 9015 automatic runs the hands and the date, with 5 bar of water resistance behind them. The black Bridle leather strap measures 20 mm at the lugs and keeps the entire watch in a single tonal register.

Understated to the point of near-invisibility, which is precisely the appeal for some wearers.
