NAOS pianoblack silver / Milanaise 20 silver

Piano black is a high-gloss finish, and gloss returns whatever light falls on it. Woven mesh does the opposite, scattering light into small points. This Naos puts the two surfaces on the same wrist.

Sternglas launched in 2016 through a Kickstarter campaign and has built almost everything since around the Naos: a reduced, high-contrast dial with sans-serif type, printed markers and a date.

The piano black dial sits in a polished 316L steel case 38 mm across, on a silver Milanese mesh bracelet 2.5 mm thick, its clasp sliding to any position along 20 mm lugs. A Miyota GR12 quartz movement drives the hands and the date. The crystal is double-domed sapphire with anti-reflective coating on both faces, water resistance is 5 bar, and the bracelet comes off without tools.

Gloss and weave read as two entirely different materials, which is more visual interest than this dial usually allows itself.
