NAOS Automatic white silver / Milanaise 20 silver

A white dial is the hardest one to get right. There is nowhere for a mistake to hide, and every printed marker has to earn its place.

Which is why it is the natural home for the Sternglas NAOS Automatik. The Naos is the Hamburg brand's core model, drawn on Bauhaus-inspired principles of reduction and contrast, and the white version is the least decorated dial it makes. The line was given a German Design Award in 2024.

The case is 38 mm of 316L stainless steel with a polished silver-tone finish, and the bracelet is Milanaise mesh in matching silver: 316L steel, 2.5 mm thick, with an infinitely adjustable sliding clasp and a tool-free fitting. A Miyota 8215 automatic drives the hands and the date, running 42 hours from a full wind at 21,600 vibrations per hour, on display through the six-screw exhibition caseback. Double-domed sapphire with double anti-reflective coating, 5 bar.

Steel, white and silver mesh. About as clean as a mechanical watch gets, and a sound first automatic for someone who dislikes clutter.
