NAOS Automatic Bronze Alabaster 38mm / Super Slim Bronze

A steel bracelet 2.2 mm thick barely registers as hardware. It follows the wrist rather than sitting on it, and in a bronze finish it turns this watch into one continuous warm object from clasp to crystal.

The watch is the NAOS Automatik from Sternglas, founded in Hamburg in 2016 and named for Stern and Glas, star and glass, a nod to the sapphire crystal at the center of everything it builds. Naos is the line where the brand's Bauhaus-inspired reduction goes furthest: high contrast, geometric discipline, nothing competing with the hands.

Here an alabaster dial, pale and slightly warm rather than stark, sits in a 38 mm bronze-toned stainless steel case. The SuperSlim bracelet is 316L steel with a brushed 316L clasp, finished to match. A Miyota 8215 automatic drives the hands and the date, running 42 hours from a full wind with hacking seconds for exact setting, and its rotor is on show through the screwed glass caseback. Sapphire above with double anti-reflective coating, 5 bar of water resistance below.

Bronze and alabaster read as a single tone at arm's length, which makes this the most cohesive of the configurations.
